There is a large Japanese cedar tree on Mt. Takao that is said to be 700 years old, and the cedar-lined approach to the shrine enhances the scenery. There are also various legends associated with the cedar trees. Moreover, the artificial forest planted by the shogunate official Egawa Tarozaemon at the end of the Edo period (1603–1867) still remains.
