Once a farm for raising silkworms, this old Japanese-style house still stands near the Silk Road, with the main house being rebuilt in 1878. It features a thatched, gabled, hipped roof structure, a typical style of private house architecture that has been seen in the Tama region since ancient times. Together with the surrounding rural scenery, it still retains the appearance that Westerners saw as they traveled through the Silk Road after the opening of the Port of Yokohama.
