Yakuoin Temple is said to have been founded in 744 by the bodhisattva Gyoki, and four structures and two Buddhist statues in the temple grounds, including the Yakuoin Izuna Gongendo Hall, have been designated tangible cultural assets of Tokyo. There is a torii gate in the temple precincts, and it clearly conveys of the blending of Shinto and Buddhist practices.
