This diary, authored by Shiono Tekisai, a leader of the Sennin Doshin (a group of 1,000 samurais who protected the Tokugawa family), describes the history of the Sennin Doshin from 1582 to 1824. It provides a valuable historical record for learning about the topography, climate, culture, and history of industry at the time.
It further describes the origins of Hachioji’s nickname as Mulberry City, and also includes the Hachioji Hakkei (“Eight Scenic Spots in Hachioji”), which is said to be a poem by Hojo Ujiteru about the scenic beauty of the castle town.
It has been entrusted to the local history museum.
