Thirty tangible and intangible cultural assets of Hachioji have been identified as essential in telling the Japan Heritage story of Mt. Takao: Mountain of Spirits ~ Mulberry City spun with people’s prayers ~. These include six historical sites related to Hojo Ujiteru including the Hachioji Castle Ruins, 11 cultural properties related to the faith in Mt. Takao and Yakuoin Temple, and 13 aspects of traditional culture nurtured over the history of Mulberry City, including assets that have yet to be designated.
